Zachower Gutshaus is celebrating 10 years of senior care with a festive anniversary!
What a moving anniversary! On Sunday, the SeTaZa day care facility in the Zachow manor house celebrated its tenth anniversary. Claudia Buntrock, a committed Berliner who has been running the historic property in a quiet, wooded landscape south of Parchim since 2006, has created a meeting place and care center for seniors. The manor house originally served as a nursing home for the elderly and as a convalescent home for mothers in the GDR and has opened a new, important chapter with the opening of the SeTaZa. As Nordkurier reports, the guests experienced a celebration in bright sunshine with tours in a historic Citroën from the 1930s and carriage rides through the idyllic surroundings.
The celebration offered a colorful program that not only put people in a good mood, but also strengthened the community. While children romped around on a bouncy castle, adults could have fun with music and artistic performances. A special attraction was the exhibition of sculptures by Berlin artist Manfred Bonewitz, which showcased the region's diverse talents. Relatives of the foster children as well as neighbors and interested guests celebrated together with the SeTaZa team and enjoyed the warm atmosphere of the house.
From a historic property to a modern care facility
The Zachow manor house, which went through numerous changes of ownership before it was auctioned by Buntrock and was home to refugee families after the Second World War, was transformed into a center for prevention, naturopathy and holistic medicine by the qualified doctor in 2006. The Gutshauser report that the facility cares for up to 17 seniors from the area and is very popular due to its quiet location. After major water damage in 2022, which made renovation work necessary, the manor house is now also energy-optimized: the heating was switched to environmentally friendly pellets.
The renovation work was carried out professionally and also included the reactivation of an unused fireplace. During the renovation period, care for the seniors was organized in a tent, which was affectionately known as the “seniors’ summer camp”. This shows the commitment and flexibility of Ms. Buntrock, who always has a good knack for providing the best possible care for her protégés.
Future prospects
Looking to the future, the operator plans to move the doctor's practice to the basement and thus create up to nine additional day care places. The renovation is scheduled to be completed next year and is seen as a future-oriented measure given the ongoing need for care places for seniors. It is a clear expression of Buntrock's commitment to further improving the quality of care in the region.
The Gugenbergers emphasize that the restoration and renovation of historical buildings not only requires specialist knowledge, but also a respectful approach to the historical substance. Claudia Buntrock has impressively demonstrated this at the Zachow Manor House and her work has created a valuable resource for the community.
In summary, one can say that the Zachow Manor House, under the leadership of Claudia Buntrock, has not only become a place for senior care over the last ten years, but also for cultural events and community activities. The anniversary was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate these achievements and look to a continued positive future.
