Matthias Schorn: Festival anniversary with folding radio and new sounds!
Matthias Schorn, the principal clarinetist of the Vienna Philharmonic, is facing a special anniversary. With a 20-year connection to the festival in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, he has not only had an impressive career in this region, but also created personal memories that remain with him to this day. Northern Courier reports that Schorn felt a strong “feeling of being welcomed and welcomed” at the first concert in 2005. This experience shaped his relationship with the festival, a family atmosphere that he has valued ever since.
The festival not only offers a platform for international artists, but also has a dedicated team that looks after the artists. Schorn emphasizes that the artist supervisors take on a variety of tasks and thus develop a deep understanding of the different concerts. This contributes to a special experience that is reflected in the atmosphere of the events. “Working with this team is something unique that I value very much,” said Schorn.
Fold radio and new program
This summer, Matthias Schorn will perform with his ensemble Faltradio, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The new program is entitled “Überschall” and is described as the most loving fold radio program. Schorn is proud to play with Faltradio in two special places, Loitz and Konau, that have a close meaning for him. Similar to his performances in the past, which were among the most unforgettable moments of his life at the festival, he also hopes that this anniversary performance will create special memories. Culture MV adds that Faltradio is a fixture in the festival family and Schorn has been an integral part of the events for two decades.
Particularly noteworthy is the upcoming double concert on June 21st with the Brandenburg State Orchestra and the premiere of a new piece by Georg Breinschmid. Schorn describes Breinschmid as a musical genius with an extraordinary sense of humor in his compositions. Such experiences are of great importance to Schorn, and he is enthusiastic about the creative collaboration.
Emotional flashbacks
After a concert in Ulrichshusen, Schorn invites you to “Schorny’s regular table”. There will be personal stories and anecdotes that will allow him to look back emotionally on all the beautiful and formative experiences during his time in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. "The audience has always meant a lot to me. These memories are unforgettable," he says with a smile. Northern Courier summarized this and underlined the importance of these events for Schorn.
Matthias Schorn and his musical journey are a living example of the power of art to bring people together and immerse them in memories. His commitment to the festival and his love for his audience will continue to guarantee emotional and musical highlights. What remains is the anticipation of the upcoming performances and the opportunity to explore new musical paths together.
