A nighttime fire in a warehouse in Utzedel caused a stir on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. When the fire brigade arrived, a van and four other vehicles in the warehouse were already burning. A total of three vans, a car and a trailer were parked in the hall.
The volunteer fire brigades from Utzedel and Demmin mobilized 53 emergency services who immediately began fighting the flames. The extinguishing work was successfully completed at 3:00 a.m. Thanks to the quick intervention, there was no major damage to the warehouse, but the hall was slightly damaged and the total damage amounts to around 75,000 euros. The criminal police from Neubrandenburg have started investigating the cause of the fire and will be supported by a fire investigator in the morning.
Fire in Bad Grönenbach
This incident stands in contrast to another fire that occurred in Bad Grönenbach on July 12, 2025. According to polizei.bayern.de, employees of an agricultural property noticed smoke coming from a warehouse around midday. It quickly caught fire, and despite the quick action of the fire department, which arrived with around 150 firefighters from surrounding communities, the hall burned down completely. The damage caused is estimated at around 1,500,000 euros. Fortunately, there were no injuries as all animals were brought to safety in time.
The fire department's follow-up work could take several days, and investigations into the cause of the fire are already underway. These will be continued by the specialist commissioner of the Memmingen Criminal Police Inspectorate. In the fire in Bad Grönenbach, the fire department's quick action was also crucial in order to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring stables and residential buildings.
