The shipyard has already successfully participated in job fairs in Rostock and the Wismar University of Applied Sciences. The applications from Wismar itself are going well, but the company also wants to win the surrounding area. In order to increase the attractiveness, the introduction of tariff salaries and a 35-hour week until 2029 are planned.

TKMS has also announced that it can separate the marine division from the parent company Thyssenkrupp and bring it to the stock exchange. This could underline the development of the company as the most modern marine company. The company also plans to expand the submarine shipyard in Kiel with a whopping 250 million euros by 2023. The aim is to develop Kiel into the international competence center for conventional submarine construction.

A new project is already on the table: Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius plans to buy six new submarines, within the framework of which TKMS is supposed to build four German submarines in class 212cd. The order volume amounts to an impressive 4.7 billion euros. Much of the added value will remain in Germany, around 90 percent. An interesting number is that 22 percent of the added value flow to Bavaria, which shows how much this sector is networked.

The connection between Wismar and Kiel becomes clear due to the long-term focus on the submarine building.
