Exciting village festival: Fire department wins canoe race and FC Lieber triumphs!

Last weekend, June 15, 2025, there was a lot of activity in several villages around Badow, Veelböken and Bülow. The regional events impressively demonstrated that there is always something going on here. The Schildetal village festival in particular captivated visitors. An exciting canoe race took place here in the picturesque village pond, which ended in victory for the firefighters Isabell Tochtenhagen and Tino Hoffmann. The two completed the sprint in an incredible 51 seconds with their “Blue Pearl”, but shortly afterwards had to involuntarily enter the water - the canoe tipped over! Tino described this as the “perfect end to the canoe race” and the spectators clearly had fun.

While the fire brigade could hardly stop laughing, Gerald Heyden, as an auctioneer, provided a special boost at the village festival. At an auction in which, among other things, a barbecue and a hammock were auctioned, the bidders remained in the dark about the auctioned goods. There was great uproar when one or two bargains finally changed hands.

It's medieval in Veelböken

In Veelböken, however, the medieval sports festival was the attraction of the weekend. Organized by the village community association, the event attracted numerous interested parties who were able to demonstrate their skills at ten exciting stations. Activities such as archery, stick horse racing, wooden sword fighting and horseshoe throwing made the eyes of young and old alike light up. This was the second edition of the event, which looks back on the premiere last year and is supported by an agricultural farm and a bookstore, which had their hands full.

And in Bülow, too, the program was anything but boring. A sports and family festival organized by the Königsfeld village community took place here, the highlight of which was an exciting football tournament. FC Lieber am Pool proved invincible and successfully defended their title. FC Dynamo Diarrhea became runner-up, while the Demerner Kids took third place and the Eskalation Demern team took fourth place. A completely new bungee run provided additional thrills and was celebrated as a great attraction by visitors.

On the same weekend, on July 13, 2019, the community of Nack held a medieval market. One could look forward to a parade through the Nacker streets, followed by the market opening. Historical costumes, craft demonstrations and hands-on activities attracted numerous visitors. The music group Vindamer and the drummer group Tamburo bant skaldar provided the right flair, while the Einherjer knights additionally livened up the atmosphere.

The weekend showed once again: There is a lot to experience in and around Badow, Veelböken and Bülow. Whether sporting or cultural – tradition is very important here and a lot is achieved. So if you think nothing happens here, you've really cut yourself some slack!
