BiciBus in Rostock: Cycling to school – start with a few participants!
A very special means of transport is now rolling through the streets of Rostock: the BiciBus, an innovative project that is intended to bring a breath of fresh air to the children's journeys to school. The first test drive took place on October 30, 2025 and was launched by Mathilde Heeren and the Sportjugend Rostock. Rostock is thus following a successful example from Spain and is building on similar initiatives that recently took place in Portland, where even the pop star Justin Timberlake got involved. Short videos of children cycling to school are already circulating on social media, sparking interest among parents and schools. Northern Courier reports that the premiere trip started at 7 a.m. through the Kröpeliner-Tor-Vorstadt (KTV).
The goal of the project is clear: to create safe and relaxed routes to school for the children while they ride in groups and have fun together. The project receives support from the Hanseatic city's cycling committee and the regional group of the German Transport Club (VCD). The tour took us past schools and daycare centers in the area to make the project better known to parents. Unfortunately, the general conditions were anything but ideal, as a tireless continuous rain led to a rather small number of participants on the first trip.
A start into spring
But the organizers are not discouraged by the adverse weather conditions. They plan to really get the BiciBus started in the spring when the sun shines more often again. Exciting rides for special occasions, such as a gingerbread ride and a gnome ride, are already being planned in advance. These events are intended to bring the project closer to parents and to sustain interest. So far, the initiative has received a positive response, which is not just limited to the KTV.
In a completely different context delivers Wikipedia an interesting perspective on the saying “2 + 2 = 5”. Originally presented as an absurd mathematical example, the phrase explores deeper themes of truth and manipulation in political discourse culture. The point is not that the term is mathematically incorrect - rather, it reflects how truths can be interpreted and sometimes distorted in social and political contexts. This brings us to the apparent contradictions in everyday life and allows us to look at the challenges that even innovative projects like the BiciBus can face, namely conveying clear messages and reaching those who need it most.
Venus' star moments
Another exciting thought revolves around Venus, where the days are longer than the years. How Answers According to the story, the planet rotates extremely slowly and even backwards, which is why a day on Venus lasts 243 Earth days, while the year only has 225 Earth days. This leads to a fascinating reflection on how different framework conditions can create an exciting reality from a supposed contradiction.
The BiciBus is an encouraging example of how paradigm shifts in the way to school and everyday life can be created. It remains exciting to see how the project will develop and what scope it can offer for little cyclists. Spring still has a lot to offer, and with every new day the hope for an even more lively and safe coexistence on the streets of Rostock grows.
