Magical figure skating: Cinema of Dreams” thrills Rostock!
In the first week of December it will be frosty and sparkling again in the Hanseatic city of Rostock, because “Holiday on Ice” is coming to the StadtHalle with a new production. From December 4th to 7th, 2023, visitors can expect a spectacular show called “Cinema of Dreams”. This unique event tells the captivating story of three friends who bring a forgotten cinema back to life - a homage to the magic of cinema.
Preparations are already in full swing as 37 international figure skaters will show off their skills on the ice. Under the artistic direction of Kim Gavin, producer Peter O’Keeffe has assembled a remarkable creative team. Talented choreographer Adam Blake as well as costume designer Michael Sharp and set designer Misty Buckley provide an impressive visual execution that takes audiences through various film genres such as retro, musical and science fiction.
The Rostock talents
The participation of young talents from the Rostock Figure Skating Club (REV) is particularly pleasing. Sophia Hall and Nina Ulrich have prepared intensively for this premiere and will be on the ice on the premiere evening on December 4th at 7 p.m. The club, which was founded in 2000 and supports around 50 athletes between the ages of 5 and 24, is known for its traditional ice revue, which is performed every year on Christmas Eve.
The great interest in the performances is reflected in the sales figures: more than 18,600 tickets for the seven shows have already been sold (as of November 5th). This makes the show a real blast – and the seats are likely to go quickly. Advance sales for the 2026 performances begin on the opening night. The exact dates are:
- Donnerstag, 4. Dezember, 19.00 Uhr
- Freitag, 5. Dezember, 16.00 und 20.00 Uhr
- Samstag, 6. Dezember, 14.00 und 18.00 Uhr
- Sonntag, 7. Dezember, 13.00 und 16.30 Uhr
