New signing Emil Holten: Five goals in his debut for Hansa Rostock!
Last Sunday, FC Hansa Rostock shot their way into the next round of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Football Cup with an impressive 17-0 win against SV Traktor Dargun. In this historic game, which was the biggest league defeat for the opponent, new signing Emil Holten celebrated a furious debut.
The 22-year-old striker, who only signed a one-year loan contract from Swedish club Elfsborg IF on September 1st, scored five goals in just one game. This happened after just one training session with the team. Whether there is an additional tingle may be because Holten previously played with Frederikstad IF in the European Cup on August 28th, where the team scored 0-0 against Crystal Palace.
A debut that made history
In the game against Dargun, Holten scored for Rostock in the 12th minute. He followed up his first goal in the 23rd minute and even used a penalty kick for his third goal (30th minute). At halftime the team was already leading 7-0 and the goals were coming in spades. In addition to Holten, Tim Krohn also scored five goals and Maximilian Krauß contributed three overcounters to the fantastic result. In the second half, Holten cheered up and scored his fifth goal in the 57th minute.
With the help of Johannes Blücher, the opposing goalkeeper, Dargun was able to put up a few good highlights, but in the end Hansa Rostock opted for an unstoppable offensive force that set off a fireworks display of goals for the spectators. The game took place in front of 2,000 passionate fans who frenetically cheered on their team.
A change with challenges
Holten's surprising transfer and quick integration into the team went smoothly, but was overshadowed by transfer rumors. After signing his contract, Holten was forced to wait for official confirmation of his transfer. This caused some unrest among fans as confirmation took four days. But it quickly became clear that Holten is exactly the player Rostock needs in this competition - someone who is ready to take responsibility and score goals.
With the clear goal of winning the state cup and thus qualifying for the DFB Cup, Hansa Rostock's goals have of course increased. The outcome of the game against Dargun makes the fans optimistic about the future.
So Hansa Rostock could go on a promotion path with Emil Holten at the helm and take on the next big challenge after winning the cup. Baltic Sea newspaper reports that this new force could bring a breath of fresh air to the squad, whereas Northern Courier analyzed the impressive debut in detail.
