Rostock 2024: Less crimes, but worrying tendencies!

Crime in Rostock shows a pleasant decline in 2024, at least if you look at the latest report by the Rostock Reutershagen police station. Stefan Damrath, the head of the district, recently presented the figures in the Südstadt council. It becomes clear that the southern town remains stable, many crimes are even declining. Compared to 2023, a positive trend can be reported here, in particular in relation to the total number of crimes in the region, which was generally reduced by 1.7 %, as the current Statista

related to the southern part of the city, there were some significant incidents in the past year that certainly affect the security sense of the citizens. In particular, a racist attack on election workers and an amocalar at a school in March 2024 caused disturbance among the population. Thanks to extensive measures, however, the police were able to quickly control the situation at the school.

traffic accidents and their causes

A not inconsiderable part of the crime statistical surveys refers to traffic accidents, of which in the southern city 444 in 2024. Unfortunately there was also a death-an 89-year-old pedestrian lost her life in this context. The police find it worrying that 5 people were seriously injured and 32 slightly injured, including many cyclists and pedestrians.

The most common accidents occurred in November, with Tuesday between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The main causes for these accidents are the non -compliance of safety distances and errors when turning or reversing. Although it cannot be specifically pointed out to the focus of accidents, the police are alerted about an increasing number of red light violations.

right, racist and anti -Semitic violence

, however, the increase in right violence and racist attacks in Germany is also an important topic. According to a press release from VBRG e.V. Children and adolescents whose racist attacks have doubled are particularly affected. This throws a shadow on social development that should not remain uncommented. The [VBRG] (https://verband-brg.de/rechte-rassist-und-antiSemitic-get-in-deutschland-2022-year balance sheets-der- victim advice center/) emphasizes that racism as a dominant motive for crime acts in the said cases.

Special concern arouses the increase in anti -Semitic and trans hostile attacks, which have also quadrupled and doubled, which shows an alarming normalization of violence and discrimination in society.

police presence and challenges

The police in Rostock also faces challenges that go beyond the typical crimes. This includes not only the numerous missing cases from the girls' house, but also clashes in discos, in which the K.-O. drops and other problems play a role. There is further focus on the high number of attacks against police officers, which has increased dramatically in recent times.

The current crime development, both in Rostock and in Germany as a whole, clearly shows that society balances in a field of tension between declining and threatening offenses. Healthy humanity and active civil society are now more in demand than ever to counter the challenges of effective solutions. The development remains exciting and requires constant vigilance from both the police and society as a whole.
