Rostock plans mega expansion: composting system is doubled!
In Rostock, a lot is happening in the area of waste management! As the city disposal Rostock GmbH announced in a current message, an exciting expansion of the composting system "Up de Schnur 3" in Hinrichsdorf is on the plan. The aim of this measure is to double the annual throughput of 3,000 tons to around 7,000 tons. The approval phase according to the Federal Immission Protection Act (BImSchG) has already been officially initiated, and it is clear: Investments are made here to meet the increased requirements.
The managing director of the city disposal, Birger Bludszu across, particularly emphasizes the convenient location of the system. Shorter transport routes not only mean less stress on the street, but also a lower fuel consumption - this not only benefits the environment, but also the city's wallet. "There is something," one could say, because the increased volume of green cuts through public and private greenery brings with it a lot of work. Since 2021, the city disposal in Rostock has been dealing with the composting and only processes green waste from urban green spaces and garden waste from Rostock households, which further drives the increase in disposed of materials.
extension with foresight
What exactly changes through the planned expansion? The main focus is on the enlargement of the composting area, while the existing facilities remain unchanged. This means that the high-quality composting in open triangular rents remains a central element of the system, which corresponds to the high quality standards of the Federal Fund of Liberation (RAL-GZ 251). An important note: Bio -waste from the brown bin, however, is not processed at the "Up de Schnur" location, but in the composting plant parking. Here, too, it is important to keep an overview, especially for the citizens who can still hand in their garden waste free of charge at four urban recycling centers.
The innovations are to be put into practice in 2027, and during this time, access to the site remains limited to the city's employees. So it will be exciting to see how the situation around the waste management in Rostock is developing and what this means for citizens. Good news for everyone who has a good hand for gardening - the city ensures that the greeney will continue to result in valuable compost in the future. The signs are based on sustainability and commitment to the local environment!
