Traffic jams and construction sites: Rostock's roads are facing huge challenges!
Rostock is facing challenging times in terms of road traffic, for several reasons. How Baltic Sea newspaper reports, Neubrandenburger Straße will be renovated in three parts from 2025. The first section, which extends from the railway crossing to the Molkerei/Röthsoll residential area, could begin as early as February 2025. This means that drivers have to prepare for months-long closures and frequent diversions. The municipal utilities are also contributing to the traffic burden as they are planning to supply district heating to several residential areas, which will also lead to closures lasting months.

Another critical point is the permanent construction sites in the city. The bridge in Rennbahnallee will be demolished and rebuilt by autumn 2026, while the Western Pomerania Bridge over the Warnow needs a lengthy renovation - experts expect a new construction to take up to 15 years. In the area of the L39 between Kassebohm-Kiesgrube and Robert-Beltz-Weg, the route will remain fully closed until the end of November 2025. Drivers should be prepared for possible dangers such as the risk of slipping or poor visibility.
