Unknown man harasses girls on the way to school – police are looking for witnesses!

In the Südstadt district of Rostock, a 14-year-old girl fell victim to sexual harassment on her way to school on Tuesday morning, June 18, 2025. Loud Picture The girl was approached by a previously unknown man on Semmelweissstrasse around 7:20 a.m. During a short conversation he is said to have touched the girl inappropriately. Luckily, the young person was able to free herself and immediately informed a trusted person who called the police.

The investigations by the Rostock Criminal Police Inspectorate have already begun. The suspect is described as slim, around 175 cm tall with short dark hair and is said to have been wearing jeans. His age is estimated at 20 to 30 years. The police have a great interest in finding witnesses who made suspicious observations on Semmelweissstrasse on the day in question. Increase in sexual crimes in Germany

Unfortunately, such incidents are not isolated. The number of sexual crimes in Germany has been rising for years. Around 128,000 cases were recorded in 2024, which is considered a new high. These developments show that not only the number of reported cases is increasing, but also the importance of the public in combating such acts. A rethink in society is urgently needed to change the relationship between gender violence and to encourage those affected to come forward.

The Rostock police have also offered support to the victims and their relatives and appealed to all citizens to be careful and report any suspicious observations. Changes start small, and together society can make a significant contribution to greater security.
