Schwerin inspires: concert, zoo day and art for everyone!
Things will be exciting in Schwerin in the future, and the program promises a lot for young and old. On Friday, August 15th, the city will host several events. A highlight is the concert by the vocal ensemble “amarcord”, which will perform in the impressive Schelfkirche at 9.30 p.m. There is a colorful program of musicals, jazz standards and classical compositions, with the proceeds being used to support the necessary renovation work on the church. However, those interested should note that the construction work could limit the view, as Nordkurier reports.
Also on August 15th, children and young people up to the age of 16 can look forward to: Schwerin Zoo opens its gates for a free visit. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. there is an entertaining program with a zoo quiz and a research camp that will delight the young explorers. Not only is nature experienced, but knowledge is also promoted.
Experience art and culture
Cultural delicacies continue on Saturday, August 16th. At 3 p.m., the Kunstwasserwerk Schwerin will be the venue for the “Moving Life” vernissage. The works of artists Andreas Lüdtke, Brigitte Eickmeier and Christian Gau are exhibited here. Nils Wöbke gives the laudatory speech, while Matthias Illner provides the musical accompaniment. Entertainment will be provided with the mask theater “Lachmöwen”, and the exhibition will be on view until August 31st.
If art isn't enough for you, you can join the “Tatort Schwerin” city tour at 3 p.m. This tour is dedicated to the dark chapters of the city's criminal history and offers an exciting look behind the scenes. Tickets are available both online and at the tourist information center.
An open-air experience
Rock fans should mark the next day, Sunday, August 17th, on their calendars. Then at 6 p.m. the garden of the Kulturforum Schwerin will be the venue for an open-air concert by the band Tripod. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Kulturforum there is a program that impresses with rock'n'roll, rock and punk classics. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the event will move to the Schwerin warehouse. Entry costs 16.50 euros, while children and young people up to 18 years of age can enjoy free entry. Tickets should be reserved quickly to ensure a good choice of seating.
A very special event is also scheduled for July 26, 2025: The 10th A Cappella Festival in the garden of the Schleswig-Holstein-Haus, which is taking place to mark the 30th anniversary of the Kulturforum. The festival will be opened at 7 p.m. by the men's chamber choir ffortissibros, known for its numerous awards and premieres. This is followed by the a cappella choir Vocoder from Hamburg and the Berlin trio Muttis Kinder, who perform a colorful repertoire.
