Schwerin's company run inspires with 82 teams and a great atmosphere
The eagerly awaited premiere of the Schwerin company run took place on Wednesday evening, and 82 company teams had the opportunity to compete with their colleagues over a distance of 3.2 kilometers each. The venue was the picturesque area around the Ziegelinnensee, which offered a wonderful backdrop not only for the spectators but also for the participants. With pleasant weather and a positive atmosphere, organizer Michael Kruse, himself an extreme athlete, explained the importance of such events for team spirit and network maintenance in companies. [Nordkurier](https://www.nordkurier.de/regional/Schwerin/82-teams-am-start-unternehmenlauf-Schwerin- Feiert-gelungene-premiere-3763228) reports that the harbor promenade in front of the Speicherhotel was used for the run for the first time and that the celebrations after the competition took place on the promenade.
In a total of four relays with four participants each, the teams competed in different classifications: mixed, men, women and trainee relays. This not only promoted sporting competition, but also cohesion among employees. The response was consistently positive, indicating a successful start. Nevertheless, there was also a hint of possible improvements for next year.
A look at other running events in Schwerin
Schwerin, the state capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, is not only known for the company run. Around a dozen running events and triathlons take place there every year, including a half marathon, the night run and the Five Lakes Run. The latter, which was launched in 1981, attracts over 2,000 runners every year and is one of the oldest running events in northern Germany. Here, participants can compete in a variety of distances, including half marathon, 15 km, 10 km and 5 km. The Five Lakes Run also offers a children's run that is shorter than two kilometers, as well as the Castle Run, for smaller athletes. HDSports offers a detailed overview of the various events in the region that further fuel the running fever.
Another highlight is the Schwerin Lake Trail, which, with over 60 kilometers and shorter distances, represents an exciting challenge for landscape runners. The upcoming events, such as the Schwerin Castle Triathlon with middle distance and sprint triathlon, are also firmly anchored in the event calendar.
Ready for the next challenge?
For all running enthusiasts in the region, the next challenge is just around the corner: the 20th Schwerin Castle Swimming will take place on August 10th, also organized by Michael Kruse. This event promises another opportunity to fight for good causes and sportsmanship.
