On the night of August 15, 2025, a serious accident occurred near Torgelow, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, which shocked the local community. Two young men were driving in a car towards Eggesin when the vehicle left the road on a winding passage and crashed into a tree without braking. According to the Ostsee Zeitung, the 22-year-old driver was only slightly injured in the incident, while his 19-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries.
The alerted paramedics were quickly there to treat the two injured people. Both were immediately taken to the hospital to have their wounds treated. Nothing official is known about the severity of the passenger's injuries, but relatives are concerned.
Drink driving
The police smelled alcohol from the driver. A breath alcohol test carried out showed a value of 0.82 per mille and means that the driver was well over the permissible limit. As a result, his driver's license was confiscated and he is now being investigated for endangering road traffic and negligent bodily harm.
