Drama in Western Pomerania: Horse breaks through the bridge and stuck!

Weitenhagen, Deutschland - On the last Wednesday afternoon there was a dramatic incident in Western Pomerania: a horse broke through a bridge and landed in the trench below. This happened near Weitenhagen when the animal plunged into the softened floor and got stuck over 20 centimeters deep in the mud. The incident occurred when the horse was looking for its way and unfortunately fell through the bridge, which gave rise to acute danger to life. The alarmed emergency services had to act quickly to save the valuable animal. Already at 4:45 p.m. the animal rescue was called Vorpommern-Greifswald, which arrived at the scene of the accident together with the volunteer fire brigade.

The rescue turned out to be challenging because a classic liberation was not possible under the given circumstances. The onset of sludge made it difficult for the helpers to free the horse. Therefore, a veterinarian was consulted who narcotized the horse to calm the animal and make the rescue work easier. Together with the fire brigade, the rescue workers managed to gently free the horse from its predicament after more than three hours of work. The commitment once again showed how important the cooperation between animal rescue organizations and the fire brigade is, which are well trained and equipped for such acute emergency situations, as SV Sachsen.

committed animal rescue in use

Animal rescue is an issue that is often only relevant in emergencies in Germany. The fire brigade plays a crucial role in this: it helps with acute living for animals, be it in burning buildings or, as in this case, in animal rescues from unscathed locations. Even if many often don't think about it, most fire brigades now have special teams and vehicles that concentrate on animal emergencies.

The animal rescue organizations are not classic animal welfare associations, but focus on acute emergencies, as the example shows in Western Pomerania. Volunteers and donations are indispensable for their work. Many of these organizations offer practical courses for dealing with animals in emergency situations to prepare themselves for an emergency. Nevertheless, the cost takeover for such operations vary, depending on the federal state, they can be significantly clear, as is clear using the example of Bavaria and other federal states. While the fire brigade often does not incur costs in Bavaria, it can look different in other regions, so animal owners have to bear the financial consequences. In 2014, for example, a Fox Terrier owner in Berlin had to pay 10,000 euros for a fire brigade operation, and abandoned animals are often affected, in which the community can step in in some cases.

The rescue of animals in emergency situations is often complex and time -consuming. As the incident in Western Pomerania shows, such operations can also weld together the community. The horse was saved by the committed work of everyone involved, which is a nice example of solidarity and teamwork.
