The stage is set for the traditional Gaffelrigg fishing festival: From July 18th to 20th, 2025, Greifswald-Wieck in Western Pomerania will become a true festival place for young and old. This weekend is all about maritime flair, colorful adventures and freshly caught delicacies. Like the organizers of NDR According to reports, the festival will be launched on Friday with a spectacular pyrotechnic, laser and light show under the motto “Ryck in Flames”.
The highlight of the festival is a boat parade on Saturday. Here, around 45 traditional and modern sailfish set out to sea before passing under the Wiecker bascule bridge. The atmosphere is lively accompanied by the sounds of the three stages, which provide the best entertainment with various artists. A colorful program for all age groups
The fishing festival has something in store for everyone. There is a generous one, especially for the little onesChildren's land, where they can let off steam. The fairs with their colorful selection of rides are an integral part of the festival. These include children's carousels, a bumper car, a pirate slide and the impressive Ferris wheel, which, at 40 meters high, provides breathtaking views.
Things get sporty at the World Championships in Ryckhanging, where courageous participants cross the Ryck on a 30 meter long synthetic rope. The rope, which is kept taut by a tractor, promises exciting competitions in front of cheering spectators.
Tradition and modern highlights
Another integral part of the fishing festival is the regatta of the ZK10 cutters, where teams from Germany fight for victory in the Danish Wiek. There is also one for thisOpen Ship, where visitors have the opportunity to marvel at museum and traditional ships, including around 40 museum ships and modern yachts. During the ship parade there will also be expert presentations of the ships and their crews.
For party lovers there is the Gaffelrigg party on Saturday evening with popular artists such as Dörthe Graner, Sebastian Hämer and the party band Skyline. This year there will also be an important innovation: entry is free for the first time, but bus tickets for local transport must be purchased.
