A highlight of the region is just around the corner! From July 18th to 20th, 2025, Greifswald-Wieck will be transformed into a true feast for the senses: the Gaffelrigg fishing festival. For the first time, visitors can expect entry that doesn't cost a cent - a gift from the city on the occasion of its 775th anniversary. This only increases the anticipation for the celebrations.
It starts on Friday, July 18th at 12 p.m. with a colorful program. The official opening will take place in the evening at 8 p.m. at the Eldena lido. Things will be quite lively during the festival. A special highlight awaits guests on Friday evening: at 10.30 p.m. a fascinating fireworks display called “Ryck in Flames” will be lit, accompanied by an impressive pyrotechnics show, lasers and music.
Festival program with a variety of attractions
At the festival site in Wieck you will hardly be able to decide where to look first! The whole family can look forward to numerous rides: from a children's carousel to the bumper car to the 40-meter-high pirate slide and the impressive Ferris wheel. There is also a children's area with bouncy castles, face painting and a balloon clown, so even the little ones get their money's worth.
The highlight of the festival is the gaff rig on Saturday, where around 40 traditional sailors and modern yachts are expected. These impressive ships will pass the Wiecker Bridge on Saturday and be presented there in an expert manner. The maritime flair is perfectly complemented by the MS “Stubnitz”, which offers tours through the Bodden. For the more adventurous, there are also sporting competitions such as Ryckhangeln, in which participants have to cross the Ryck on a synthetic rope - a real test of courage!
Entertainment and atmosphere on three stages
The festival will feature musical entertainment on three stages. On Friday there will be a line dance party and DJ sounds at the Eldena lido. On Saturday, NDR presenters, Sebastian Hämer and the Skyline Partyband are on the program, while Sunday concludes with the Greifswalder Blasorchester and the Duo Max Raabe. A varied music program is also offered on the village square in Wieck. There is live music, DJ acts and a bumper car church service on Sundays.
The fishing festival is rounded off by a diverse range of fair offerings. The festival area becomes a shopping mile where young and old can have fun on the open ship and on various rides. The attractions are designed to reflect the rural charm of the Baltic region and celebrate the city's community.
