Greifswald: Fisherman's Festival buses now charge a fee - the new regulation!

The Fischerfest in Greifswald is just around the corner and promises to be a colorful spectacle. From July 18 to 20, 2025, the area around Greifswald-Wieck will be transformed into a vibrant celebration of maritime culture. With a varied program ranging from boat trips to fairs to sporting competitions, there is something for everyone. But it's not just the festival itself that's causing a lot of conversation, the change in travel conditions is also causing some discussion.

Traditionally, the fishing festival offered free entry with a fixed cultural contribution of five euros per person and included bus rides. However, a new regulation has now been introduced for this year that is quite tough. According to Ostsee-Zeitung, festival visitors now have to pay both entry and travel on public transport themselves wear. This is causing heated emotions on social media, where many users are criticizing the fact that the high cost of bus rides now has to be paid in addition to the free entry.

Arrival and ticket prices

The prices for bus trips are clearly regulated. A single trip for 2.30 euros and a cell phone ticket for 1.60 euros are options that make travel easy. For anyone who plans to travel to the festival more often, a day ticket for adults could be worth it, which costs either 5.50 euros via the app or 6.50 euros on the bus. There are savings compared to the previous cultural contribution, after all the benefit is 1.80 euros - but only for those who plan at least four trips.

There are also group tickets available for up to five people for 11 euros, as well as a weekend ticket for 6.50 euros, which is valid from Friday evening to Sunday evening. Children up to the age of six continue to ride for free, and children up to the age of twelve also have free access to the festival grounds.

A festival full of experiences

The Fischerfest not only offers a new ticket structure, but also a rich program. Visitors can expect three stages with varied performances, a children's area, fairs and even sporting competitions. A special highlight of the festival is the Ryckhanging World Championship, in which participants have to cross the Ryck on a synthetic rope. The traditional regatta of the ZK10 cutters will also not be missed, in which teams from Germany will fight for victory.

The soon to be around 40 traditional museum ships and modern yachts will be visible through the Wiecker Bridge on Saturday before they are presented by experts. This maritime backdrop, combined with a wide range of rides such as children's carousels and a Ferris wheel, makes the fishing festival an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Another practical detail is that bus lines 2 and 3 run to the festival site every quarter of an hour, which makes getting there much easier. For anyone who wants things to be even easier, there is the Friedrich shuttle, which can be easily booked via an app, online or by telephone. This shows that the organizers of the festival also have a good hand this year to make travel easier and to offer visitors a great festival.

It remains to be seen whether the new ticket rules will actually dampen anticipation or perhaps just cause more discussion on social media. However, the fact is: the fishing festival in Greifswald will be very popular despite all the changes.
