Supermarket thief escapes! Police stops escape in Greifswald

On Friday evening, May 24, 2025, theft was reported in the Greifswald shopping center. A cashier confronted a 24-year-old German who then flee. But a courageous 28-year-old police officer who was at the cash register and was not on duty immediately followed up.

The policeman was able to stop the perpetrator at first, but he vehemently defended himself and tried to escape again. Fortunately, another witness hurried to help, and together they held the fleeing thief until the police arrived. Now the perpetrator faces criminal proceedings for predatory theft as well as resistance and assault against enforcement officers. The Greifswald criminal police started the investigation.
