Versatile tasks of the deputy district administrator

In his role, Hasselmann was responsible for various specialist departments, ranging from road traffic to district development. This includes the Road Traffic Office, the Veterinary and Food Inspection Office and the Office for Building, Nature and Monument Protection. He also worked in the land registry and surveying office as well as in the areas of water management and civil engineering. The requirements for the new first deputy are clear: a committed and assertive manager with the appropriate qualifications is required.

The upcoming election is not the only political challenge in the region. The district elections in Western Pomerania-Greifswald are scheduled for May 11th. This year, three candidates are running, including the CDU incumbent Michael Sack, the entrepreneur Inken Arndt from the AfD and Erik von Malottki from the SPD, supported by the Left and the Greens. The elections are seen as pointing the way for the political mood in the region, especially since there is no absolute majority and a runoff election is scheduled for May 25th. A total of 47,101 eligible voters, including 16 and 17 year olds, are allowed to decide on the future of the political landscape.

Looking at the local elections

The importance of local elections is often underestimated, but they represent an important part of the German political system.
