Horse Festival on the Szczecin Lagoon: A festival for riders and spectators!

From July 18th to 20th, 2025, the municipality of Boock in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district will be the venue for the 16th Horse Festival on the Szczecin Lagoon. The tournament director Martin Giese has put together an exciting program that will delight participants and visitors alike. With over 520 entries for 23 competitions, the anticipation for the event is already great. Both experienced riders and young talents get their money's worth here.

A highlight of the festival are the class A and L jumping competitions. Particular attention is drawn to the “Boocker Derby”, a class A** jumping competition with a jump-off, which is held on Saturday evening. The creative costume jumping class A*, in which the participants dress their horses in imaginative costumes, also promises an entertaining competition. The Grand Prix of the festival, a class S* competition with a winner's lap, takes place on Sunday and crowns the tournament.

A celebration for the whole family

Admission to this colorful spectacle is affordable for the whole family. Permanent entry for all three days costs just 5 euros, while single tickets are available at the daily box office for 3 euros. Children up to 12 years of age enjoy free entry, which will particularly please visitors with their little riders.

Boock, a community with around 594 inhabitants, attracts not only local riders but also participants from all over Germany and abroad. Equestrian sport is one of the most popular leisure activities among Germans: over 80% of riders say they enjoy active disciplines such as dressage and jumping with great enthusiasm. Equestrian sport has a long tradition in Germany that goes back to military influences in the 20th century. Today, however, access for amateurs is a given.

A star in the equestrian sky

The importance of equestrian sport in Germany is undeniable. With around 7,000 riding and driving clubs, the FN (Fédération Equestre Nationale) is the largest equestrian association in the world. The various disciplines, from dressage to exciting competitions such as the derby and costume jumping, show the diversity and enormous interest in equestrian sports. This year the competition will also be fierce, as the participants include medalists from the national championships, including Anna Wejda, who won the title in the women's class last year on her horse Cellestra.

The Szczecin Lagoon is not only a meeting place for riders and horse lovers, but also a place where people of all ages come to experience the fascination of equestrian sports up close. From exciting competitions to festive music, the supporting program will also attract numerous visitors. The Rossower Schalmeienkapelle entertains the audience on Sunday with a concert, which rounds off the event.

With everything the horse festival has to offer, the weekend of July 18-20, 2025 promises to be an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Visit the festival on the Szczecin Lagoon and enjoy the diversity of equestrian sports!
