Renovation of Grimmen Zoo begins: A new discovery zoo is being created!

It’s “ready, set, go!” again. in the Grimmen pet park. After a long wait, construction work begins today to transform the zoo into a modern discovery zoo. A new farm building with an animal hospital will be built. The long-awaited transformation is possible thanks to federal and state funding totaling nine million euros, which were already promised in 2021. In total, the project volume amounts to almost ten million euros, which is definitely an ambitious plan, as NDR reports.

Another reason to be happy is the planning, which is being carried out by the same office that was responsible for the redesign of the Rostock Zoo. The designs include, among other things, modern, walk-in aviaries, a special Africa area, a warm house for monkeys and overnight accommodation for visitors. Many are excited to see what the zoo will look like in the final phase, and the zoo will remain open to guests throughout the renovation work.

Renovation in several phases

Construction will begin on November 6, 2025 and will be divided into four construction phases, which are expected to continue over a period of three years. So anyone who is thinking about visiting can be sure that they will be able to enjoy the animals and the existing offerings even during the renovation phase. In this way, the zoo remains an attractive excursion destination for young and old.

The long delay in the work was due to a lack of approval from the authorities. You can imagine how frustrating this was for everyone involved. Now that the first steps have been taken, everyone is hoping for a smooth process and a safe implementation of the ambitious plans.

On the way to a modern zoo

The vision for the new discovery zoo is not only a benefit for the Western Pomerania-Rügen region, but also for the numerous visitors who are curious about the new offerings. The combination of modern animal husbandry and attractive facilities could mean that the zoo is very popular and attracts many animal lovers.

The construction work is a big step and a real upgrade of the pet park, whose attractiveness should increase in the future. So it remains exciting to see what the next few years will bring. It will be interesting to see how the Grimmen pet park develops into a new home for many animal residents and what experiences it will offer visitors.

It can therefore be hoped that those responsible have a good hand and that the plans can actually be implemented without further delays.

In a completely different but equally exciting area, the Universidad del Atlántico in Colombia has elected a new rector. Leyton Daniel Barrios Torres will be in charge for the 2025-2029 term. Despite an indefinite strike called by eight out of ten faculties, the university is hoping for a return to academic order. The students are demanding, among other things, the resignation of the new rector and a review of the election process, which raises concerns about possible irregularities. The harsh conflict at the university highlights the current dissatisfaction of students, such as El Tiempo reported.

So much dynamism in various projects shows once again how important it is to make the right decisions and seek dialogue - be it in a zoo or at the university.
