Causes and statistics
Recently there have been increasing reports of traffic accidents on Rügen. Northern Courier recently reported another incident in which a 29-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured. Here he was run over by a van whose driver ignored the right of way when turning onto the B 96. Such serious accidents are often due to a disregard for traffic rules.
With regard to road safety, comprehensive data is necessary. The Traffic safety statistics provides basic information about the number and causes of accidents nationwide. These statistics are not only used for analysis, but also for the development of measures to increase road safety and improve the legal framework. It becomes clear that every number has a fate behind it.
It is important for affected accident victims and their families to act quickly to reduce the number of drivers and pedestrians involved in such fatal or serious accidents. Whether through more controls or through education on the roads - it remains to be hoped that such accidents will become less common in the future.
