Bundeswehr Day: 3000 portions of pea soup at the Stralsund harbor!
Today Stralsund will be the setting for “Bundeswehr Day”. Thousands of guests are expected in the heart of the Hanseatic city on June 28, 2025 to take a look behind the scenes of the Bundeswehr. The event takes place at the harbor, where the Navy and other branches of the armed forces present their equipment and services, including the impressive K130 corvette and a class 404 tender. Visitors can look forward to a varied program that also offers excellent culinary delicacies - the focus is on the popular pea soup.
In Stralsund, pea soup begins to be cooked in the early hours of the morning. Around 1200 liters are freshly prepared and served with bockwurst and rolls. The soup comes from the Stralsund Marine Technology School and is offered for a small fee of 3.60 euros per portion. A total of 3,000 portions will be available, intended for visitors as well as guests of honor and soldiers. A team of 25 people and 29 soldiers are responsible for transporting the delicious soup from the naval school in Parow to the field kitchens, where it is then distributed, as the Ostsee-Zeitung reports.
