Water temperatures in the Baltic Sea: ideal conditions for swimming today!

This is what August looks like in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: August 17th, 2025 attracts both locals and vacationers to the refreshing shores of the Baltic Sea. For many, swimming is an absolute must-do during this time. But how warm is the water actually? The decisive water temperatures are not only important for those brave enough to jump into the water in winter. Some people just want to be sure it's comfortable before jumping into the waves.

An interactive map provides an overview of the water surface temperature at 22 different locations along the Baltic Sea. The measurements are updated daily and come from the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) and the German Weather Service (DWD). The data is provided five times a day at 22 gauge stations, at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
