Müller opens the first Nintendo shop in Ulm: Gaming Revolution!
The Müller Group opened its first Nintendo brand shop in Germany on June 5, 2025 as part of a comprehensive business expansion. This is located in the branch in Ulm and is the first of its kind in Europe outside of Japan. In the future, other branches, such as those in Mainz, should also follow this step. The so-called shop-in-shop concept offers space for around 570 different Nintendo products on 50 square meters, including video games, merchandise articles and technical accessories. The trading group Müller is deepening its cooperation with the game manufacturer Nintendo by expanding its range in the branches by hundreds of Nintendo products. The range includes bretting games, headphones and even toothbrushes with popular characters such as Mario, Zelda and Pokémon. Another highlight are the newly introduced "Gaming Foods", which includes snacks and drinks that are specially tailored to gamers. Online orders of the available products are also planned to facilitate access.
extension of the adventure offer
With this innovation, Müller is increasingly moving his focus from traditional sound and scene to modern consumer electronics. The company is responding to the growing market of the gaming industry, which in 2024 generated sales of over 9 billion euros in Germany. The average age of the gamer is already over 38 years, which indicates that the target group is significantly wider for these products.Nevertheless, there are mixed reactions on the part of customers. While many welcome the large selection and the special focus on Nintendo products, some criticism of the product strategy expresses. In particular, the high starting price of the new Nintendo Switch 2, which is 469.99 euros, as well as the prices for games that are between 80 and 90 euros, will be perceived as overpriced. Earlier prices for similar products were usually 60 to 70 euros. This leads to resentment among fans.
market development and customer feedback
The opening of the Nintendo brand shop could underline the further trend towards professional marketing gaming products. The step of Müller, who dares to realign entertainment, could also inspire other retailers to get more involved in this growing area. According to Statista , sales in Germany have increased continuously from 2012 to 2024, which continuously increased, which increases the increasing relevance of this industry occupied.
It remains to be seen whether the new shops can meet the promised expectations. The challenges of pricing and product availability will certainly remain a topic discussed in the gaming segment.
