New exhibition in Dresden: Make data visible and understand!

In the Cosmo Science Forum in Dresden, the exhibition "[UN] visible. Visualizations in science", which can be visited by August 6, 2025. This interactive journey of discovery through complex systems and scientific visualizations aims to make data visible and to emphasize its importance for research, everyday life and democracy. According to TU Dresden , the exhibition from the current Dresden research and international contributions from "Places & Spaces: Mapping science ”.

The curators, Lisel Record and Prof. Katy Börner from Indiana University have designed a varied program that discussed #pandemies, climate crisis and election research. The exhibited exhibits include a 3D trip to the development of the universe, interactive maps on political networks on Twitter and VR applications for exploration of global data networks. interactive data experiments

A highlight of the exhibition is the lecture by Prof. Katy Börner, who focuses on the "Atlas of the Macroscopes". These interactive software tools are designed to identify patterns and trends in large amounts of data. They enable the visitor to rediscover the complex world through active participation and find answers to your own questions. The relevance of big data for information processing is underlined by the macroscopes, which help and enable the large whole to navigate through the changing world, reports Dresden .

The exhibits benefit from developments in the Open Data and Citizen Science movement that promote the analysis of complex urban data. In particular, the support from various actors such as the Barkhausen Institute, the HTW Dresden and the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) shows how important creative and interactive approaches to visualize research results are added vrvis .
