New rescue station on Warwickplatz: built -up plans, but construction is uncertain!
Warwickplatz, Verden, Deutschland - In Verden, the construction of a new rescue station is concretized, which is to be built on the Rosenweg, near the hospital. The construction project has been prepared for over ten years, but an exact date for the construction start has not yet been determined. So far, there have been special challenges in the choice of location, which took into account a total of 18 possible locations before the Warwickplatz was considered suitable. Christian Groth from the Verden district administration informed about the progress in the committee for fire protection and regulatory matters and found that the current rescue guard did not meet the requirements for occupational safety and size. An expert opinion from 2014 had shown this. The new building is expected to cost 4.2 million euros, whereby the financing by the social security institutions plays a central role, since a separate washing hall is considered a financial risk.
Maike Winter from Thalen-Consult presented the first site plan, which, however, still raises many open questions. The planned building is organized with garage goers on Lindhooper Straße. Furthermore, a separate entry and exit for the emergency vehicles is planned. In order not to disturb the overall picture of the former barracks site, solutions were found to shield the garage doors through hedges and trees. The planned rooms include shower and sanitary rooms, a resting room, an administrative wing as well as training and break rooms. Information about the planning is also specified in the relevant regulations, such as the Workplace Ordinance.
Health and security focused on
The modernization of rescue guards has become necessary in Germany because technical further developments and a higher volume of use require larger vehicles. In Verden, also attention is paid to modern standards that ensure occupational safety. According to the new guidelines, rescue guards must be able to meet certain hygienic and safety requirements. Factors such as inadequate parking space sizes, tight traffic routes and a lack of suction for diesel engine emissions are problems that make new construction planning essential. Employers are responsible for complying with the provisions of occupational health and health protection.
The new rescue station in Verden will not only improve the operational capacity, but also make a contribution to the safety of the emergency services. The exact details of the project will continue to be discussed, while the city of Verden has already provided over 4,000 square meters of space for the blueprints. The construction plans are also intended to take into account an ecological design, whereby at least 50% of the roof area is to be equipped with photovoltaics. The planned construction is a crucial step to improve the emergency services in the region and follow the trend of modernizing existing infrastructures and adapting the new requirements.
Overall, it can be seen that a future -oriented solution for the rescue station is sought in Verden. Political support and the participation of the DRK representatives indicate that the project made progress, even if the start of construction is still coming.
