New traffic route to the TU Dortmund: E-cars welcome!
on the campus of the TU Dortmund, which is strategically located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, begins today, June 3, 2025, the hot phase of a closely curvy semester for numerous students. The university is easily accessible via various traffic routes, including the Sauerland line A45, which crosses the Ruhrschnellweg B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen descent of the A45 leads directly to Campus Süd, while the Dortmund Dorstfeld and Barop descents on the A40 enable access to Campus Nord. E-cars can be found on a charging station on Campus Nord, Birdpothsweg.
The S-Bahn station "Dortmund University" guarantees quick access to Campus Nord. The S-Bahn line S1 runs every 15 or 30 minutes and connects the campus with the Dortmund main train station and with Düsseldorf via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. In addition, the university locations can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Students can plan their arrival via the website of the Rhein-Ruhr transport association and the interactive DSW21 line network plan. With the H-Bahn, which runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the technology center, the commuting between the campuses is also easier.
electromobility in focus
In the winter semester 2024/2025, an event for "components and systems for electromobility" is offered, which is aimed at students of electrical engineering, information technology and computer science. This innovative event takes place in presence and the associated documents are provided in Moodle. The students have to register for the event with the number 080723 in the SPF in order to receive access to the materials in the Moodle workroom. Changes will be communicated to the registered participants in good time via Moodle, and the activation in the Moodle system is automatically within 24 hours after registration.
students are encouraged to clarify all relevant details with the IT's examination office before participating. The module examination will be announced at a later date, and office hours and references are made available in the lecture. The H-Bahn line 2 connects the campuses within two minutes and thus offers a practical mobility solution for students.
Institute for Energy Systems
A particularly remarkable institute at the TU Dortmund is the Institute for Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Management, which is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Rehtanz and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Timm Faulwasser stands. The institute deals intensively with research in the area of electrical networks and pursues the goal of developing a technically realizable and sustainable electricity system of the future. Research projects include the system integration of renewable energy sources and the efficient use of energy.
In addition, technologies in areas such as process control technology, control technology and power electronics are developed and analyzed. A central concern of the researchers is the integration of sustainable solutions into the total structure of energy supply and electricity markets. Your work is crucial for the future structure of transmission and distribution networks and takes into account both economic and regulatory framework.
By combining theory and practice, the institute aims to offer the students and society innovative, environmentally friendly solutions for a safe energy supply. The focus is on continuous research on efficient applications of electrical energy, such as electromobility.
The TU Dortmund remains not only a place of learning, but also a stroke for innovative developments in electromobility and energy industry.
