New Rabenhof specialist nursing home: More places and modern support in Ellwangen!

Ellwangen, Deutschland - The social committee of the Ostalbkreis unanimously decided on June 6, 2025, the confirmation of needs for the replacement building of the Rabenhof specialist nursing home in Ellwangen. This new building, which is to be realized from 2026, comprises 75 places, including 15 in a protected residential group. The Rabenhof is an integral part of the municipal psychiatric supply network in the Ostalbkreis and has been offering both inpatient and outpatient offers for people with mental illnesses or mental disabilities for many years.
The existing premises of the specialist nursing home with 60 places no longer meet the requirements of the Landesheimbau Ordinance, the need for renovation it turns out to be unacceptable. Therefore, the new building will become a modern specialist nursing home with five residential groups, which is specially designed for the needs of mentally or neurologically ill people with a high need for care.

The new nursing home will offer individual therapy plans and close medical support that is based on the latest developments in mental health care. The aim of the project is to reduce the operating costs in the long term and to meet the increasing need for nursing places. Up to 15 new positions are created to cover the increased need for care. Particularly noteworthy should be emphasized that the new facility will only offer single rooms in order to take into account the desire for privacy of the residents.
The old building of the Rabenhof will be preserved and will be used in the future. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building is planned in spring 2026.
According to habilitation - advice for people with disabilities, the Rabenhof becomes a specialist center, which is to be further developed by 2027. The facility specializes in the integration and promotion of the participation of people with mental disabilities.
