Ascension under alcohol: police often have to intervene!

On Ascension Day, there were numerous missions in the Aurich/Wittmund police inspection, despite the overall lower figures compared to the previous year. The highlight was a big event at the Rahester Schleuse in Aurich, where an estimated 2,000 people were present at the same time. The officials were tirelessly deployed to settle alcohol -related disputes. A total of 13 references were granted and 16 investigative procedures for assault were initiated.

It was particularly turbulent in Friedeburg: a 27-year-old did not want to accept a dismissal and attacked a police officer. A 19-year-old in Großheide loudly insulted the police after a dismissal. The alcohol problem was also present: a 53-year-old cyclist crashed drunk, a 30-year-old caused an accident and fled with almost 2 per thousand, and a 53-year-old damaged four cars under the influence of alcohol. Finally, a 17-year-old disregarded the police's attitude signals and an accident while he was traveling without a driver's license with over 1.6 per thousand. Blood samples were taken and criminal proceedings were initiated.
