Truck fire on the B243: drivers saved, street remains closed!

in Bad Salzdetfurth there was a dramatic truck fire on May 27, 2025: A 62-year-old driver was on the B243 with his fully loaded manure of the slurry at around 4:15 a.m. when a fire suddenly broke out in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Fortunately, the driver was able to get to safety in good time and was unharmed while the truck burned out completely.

The fire brigade was in use with numerous units from Bad Salzdetfurth, Wesseln, Wehrstedt, crouches and small fertilizers to extinguish the infernal fire. However, the high temperatures led to considerable damage to the B243 road surface, which made a full closure of the road between Wesseln and Söder necessary. This blocking is expected to continue until May 28, 2025.
