A 30-year-old alleged car thief made for a dramatic police operation in Hanover on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The man who was traveling with a previously stolen VW Caddy noticed a police patrol and fled with breakneck 160 km/h on the southern Schnellweg. On the departure to Anderten, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed against a tree.

The VW Caddy had previously been registered as stolen by its owner in the southern part of the city. The theft report was already in the morning, but it was only in the afternoon that the police could find the vehicle. On the chasing trip, the driver cut a tractor -trailer and ignored the police indicators, which led to the spectacular accident. Witnesses of the incident are called to report to the Hanover police on 0511 109-1888.
