Airbus in Serengeti-Park: Environmentally friendly transport approved!
Hodenhagen, Deutschland - The Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen plans to use an old Bundeswehr Airbus A310 called "Kurt Schumacher" as a restaurant. This project is a long -cherished plan, the implementation of which has been delayed for years due to nature conservation objections. However, the Hanover region has now confirmed that there are no longer any concerns about nature conservation aspects. This was made possible by a new procedure that reduces the hull of the aircraft from 6.80 meters to 5.90 meters to avoid damage to trees in the adjacent landscape protection area.
To protect the trees, the so-called "reverse rigging" method is used, in which branches are tied up. A practical test with a model of the aircraft fuselage has validated this method and proved that no damage to the trees will occur. Now no more nature conservation law is required, which represents significant progress for the project, as Kreiszeitung reported.
transport against the background of nature conservation
Approval for the transport of the Airbus fuselage, which was originally intended for the summer of 2022, had received a long delay due to objections from the Hanover region. However, conversations between the participants led to environmentally friendly solutions that now finally enable the project to implement it. The lower nature conservation authority, the municipality and the NABU have confirmed that there will be no damage to trees in the landscape protection area during transport. Transport is now possible at the earliest from October 1, after the end of the breeding and setting time.
- Restrictions due to cuts on trees outside of the protected area could be necessary.
- An application to the road traffic authority in Langenhagen must be made for heavy transport.
- Special devices to transport and lower the aircraft still have to be built.
- In addition, an application to the train is necessary to cross a track route.
Fabrizio Sepe, Managing Director of the Serengeti Park, expressed optimistic about the project and sees this a future-oriented opportunity for the attractiveness of the park. The anticipation of the new restaurant is growing, and many visitors are eagerly awaiting the opening of the historic aircraft as a gastronomic attraction.
