A festival of street art: Holzminden expects spectacular performances!

Holzminden, Deutschland - The 17th International Straßentheater Festival in Holzminden is just around the corner. The festival will be officially opened on Friday, June 6, 2025. The city expects a weekend full of spectacle that lasts until Sunday evening and takes place in the city center. In the past 13 months, the organization team has prepared for this moment, with the hot phase of preparations began in March. On Thursday, the last meeting of the team was held under the direction of project manager Heike Leupold, who coordinates a large team of around 100 members. 40 members of this have followed a call and a total of over 500 working hours are estimated that flowed into the planning and implementation of the festival.

The city of Holzminden will turn into an almost car -free zone during the festival. Fire brigade, emergency services, police and a security service support the event to ensure the safety of visitors. A comprehensive security concept provides for roadblocks and a ban on weapons. Access to various playgrounds where the eleven artist groups show their performances is also regulated.

A colorful program with international artists

A total of 46 performances by over 80 artists will be on stage during the festival. Groups of artists from Belgium, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain have agreed to come. The opening performance begins at 7 p.m. on the mayor-Schrader-Straße, while the last performance will take place on Sunday at 10 p.m.

Special highlights are the audience prices that are allocated in the categories of small format and large format. Voice cards are available in the festival office and at the venues. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday at 8 p.m. on the market square. In addition, families can look forward to a special program for children on Pentecost Sunday in the Kauffmannsgarten.
