IG Metall increases pressure: Warning strike at MVO in Böbingen and Gmünd!

Böbingen, Deutschland - The IG Metall called in a new step to enforce its tariff demands to a warning strike at the automotive supplier metal processing OSTALB (MVO). The union has been employing the dispute over the MVO collective bargaining collective bargaining, which currently does not have its own collective agreement. Around 50 employees took part in the protests in the locations in Böbingen and Schwäbisch Gmünd. The early and night shift ended their work an hour earlier, while the late shift started an hour later. Works council chairman Yilmaz Can said that the Group's works council of the Georgsmarienhütte (GMH) is solidarity with the strikers, which is intended to further increase the pressure on the management. In this context, IG Metall calls for the negotiation of a collective agreement for MVO, whose negotiations are to be continued at the end of May. The majority of companies in the GMH group are tied up, which strengthens the position of the union.

like IG Metall , the demand for better working conditions and higher salaries in the entire metal and electrical industry is becoming increasingly urgent. The background is the increasing cost of living, which are particularly troublesome. This has also been discussed again and again in other warning strikes that are carried out in several cities. IG Metall is currently demanding 7% more wages for employees and a monthly surcharge of 170 euros for trainees. It is also required that employees are granted better options between leisure and paid working hours. These demands are particularly important before the nationwide warning strikes, which are already due in the fifth round of negotiations in the metal and electrical industry.

urgency of the claims

The IG Metall demands are not only limited to MVO. In a broader context, the union announced that it is negotiating in key sectors for around 3.9 million employees. The current warning streak, which also includes strikes at various major production sites such as Audi, BMW and VW, shows the union's determination. In Osnabrück, for example, 250 VW employees have laid out their work in order to draw attention to the insufficient offers of employers. The employers had only brought an increase of 3.6% over 27 months, which is incomprehensible to the employees.

The mood in the workforce is tense. Many employees do not feel sufficiently heard by employers. Despite the tense economic situation, which is characterized by a poor economic situation and declining production, IG Metall does not want to retract and relies on the solidarity of the employees. The numerous warning strikes of this month are a clear expression of the dismissal about the current situation.

In view of the continued critical situation, it is likely that the negotiations will also be accompanied by numerous other protests in the future. IG Metall plans to maintain the pressure medium to persuade employers to steer. This could even lead to all-day warning strikes, should there be no agreement in the ongoing negotiations, as well as ZDF . IG Metall therefore remains with its demands at the top of the discussion about fair working conditions in the metal and electrical industry.
