Publicity in Stockach: Together for better connections and more mobility!
Stockach, Deutschland - The importance of local public transport (public transport) is currently being discussed intensively in Stockach. On May 20, 1825, with the opening of a horse migration line in Berlin, the history of public transport began and on the occasion of its 200th anniversary was celebrated in the Stockach community center Adler Post. Over 50 guests took part in the event, which was organized by the Stockach environmental center, the BODMAN-Ludman-Ludwigshafen-Stockach and the "Climate Competent Mobil" association. The aim was to develop options for improving public transport in Stockach and create a discussion forum in order to address the interests of the citizens. Südkurier Ablachtalbahn was a main concern of many participants.
Ralf Bendl from the Hegau-Bodensee transport association and employee of the district for local transport and school transport of the district of Constance, including Tanja Brehme, who acts as a coordinator for mobility and climate protection. Bernd Rüffer presented a study that shows that public transport in Stockach is more effective than often assumed, but many people use it too little. Suggestions to improve public transport connections were discussed, including the introduction of a citizens' bus and “Mobility on Demand” traffic. In addition, Ralf Derwig informed about the planned extension of the Seehäsle and new stops that are to be built in Hindelwangen, Zizenhausen and Hoppetenzell.
challenges of public transport
A central topic was the long waiting time at stops and the connection between Stockach and Tuttlingen, which, according to Tanja Brehme, is addressed in the local transport plan, but is required. Mayor Susen Katter emphasized the important role of public transport for the quality of life and the participation of fewer mobile citizens. The realization of a digital scoreboard at the bus station as well as the improvement of the stops and the control periods of the Fastbus line 103 were also discussed. The city is also working on the implementation of a circular car sharing project that is considered an important part of the traffic transition.
Another central element of the discussion was the reactivation of the Ablachtalbahn. Severin Rommeler, the non -party mayor of Sauldorf, is committed to reviving the route between Stockach and quantities since 2020. This route has a length of over 40 kilometers and was shut down for passenger transport in the 1970s. The report of bpb.de The Biberbahn, a leisure traffic between floor and quantities has been introduced since reactivation in 1996 from Stockach to Radolfzell and has found the inflow on Sundays and public holidays from April to October.
strategies for the turn of traffic
In order to build on the successes in public transport, extensive investments are required. According to the vdv , the Federal Government plans to significantly expand rail transport by 2030. This includes the reactivation of disabled railway lines to shift traffic to rail and reduce the environmental impact. Rail passenger traffic should be doubled, which further underlines the economy of projects such as the reactivation of the Slachtalbahn. Investments of an estimated 20 million euros are considered necessary, and the first results of a feasibility study are expected for early summer 2023.
Despite the resistance of some residents who fear noise pollution, the reactivation of the railway line remains a central part of the discussion about improving traffic connections in the region. This could attract new residents, which is of great importance for the development of the rural region.
