Barrier -free bus stops in Reeßum: now accessible to everyone!
In the municipality of Reeßum, all renovation measures at the bus stops will be completed by the end of May 2025. With a total of seven new barrier -free bus stops, the integration of people with mobility restrictions is now being pushed forward. The municipality took part in a tender to improve public transport and received a grant from the Lower Saxony State Corporate Transport company in spring 2024. This funding covers 75 % of the granted expenses for the necessary conversions.
The construction work started at the beginning of March, with the existing buskeeping houses being torn down. Four of the old wooden houses made of Taaken are used as weather protection in another place, for example on the soccer field. In addition, paving work was carried out, which include a blind guideline system in order to facilitate the visually impaired people.
redesign of the stops
At five out of seven stops, new glass and metal buskeepers were installed. These modern buildings not only offer protection against weather influences, but also improve the quality of stay for passengers. Some stops were also equipped with additional bicycle stands to promote the use of bicycles and to enable better access to public transport offers.
The six stops in Taaken and one in Schleßel are now considered barrier -free. Such measures are part of a comprehensive funding program for stops in public transport (public transport), which also affect the principles for barrier -free expansion. According to information from lnvg , stops that cost over 100,000 euros, are used barrier-free and are operated in line traffic.
public transport strategy and accessibility
accessibility is a central element of public transport strategy 2030, such as Future network This not only includes barrier-free access to stops, but also refers to the entire public transport travel chain, including the vehicles and their equipment. For example, regional busses must be low -floor and equipped with folding bumps in order to meet the large number of mobility needs.
For the municipalities that become active in barrier-free expansion of public transport infrastructure, funding is still available. These are provided under the State Community Finance Finance Act (LGVFG). The support includes 75 % of the granted investment costs and an additional 10 % flat rate for planning costs. This paves the way for barrier -free and user -friendly public transport.
