On Friday, May 23, 2025, the police in Waldkirch-Kollnau were alerted due to serious water pollution. Around 12:00 p.m. the specialist service "Trade and Environment" found that allegedly white color was tilted into a gully. The dangerous waste came directly into the nearby ELZ through the sewage system, just 150 meters away. The canal lid is located on Kastelbergstrasse between Bergstrasse and Trade Street.

Thanks to the rapid use of the fire brigade, worse effects on the environment and the living environment on the Elz could apparently be prevented. The police have initiated criminal proceedings for suspected water pollution. Witnesses are called to pass on relevant information on telephone numbers 0761 2168920 or 07681 40740.
