Diverse events at the UDE: Art, War and Summer Festival!

Duisburg, Deutschland - On June 11, 2025, numerous events are on the program at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) that deal with a variety of social and academic topics. In the week from June 16 to 21, there are topics such as war, illness, art, be queer, cyberbullying, e-learning, energy transition and multi-talent. The events are accessible both on site and online; Registration is sometimes recommended.

The activities continue on Tuesday, June 17th. There are several lectures on the plan, including a lecture by Prof. Dr. Mads Hald Andersen about immunomodulating vaccines and a lecture by Franziska Lallinger about Hans Sachs. Also Prof. Dr. Hendrik Härtig discusses neutrality in physics lessons, while Prof. Dr. Hans-Curt Flemming and Prof. Dr. Florian Sprenger cut different topics on water, religion, culture and scientific positioning.
On Wednesday, the events score with a lecture by Dr. Guillaume Schull about chemical reactions at 1 p.m., followed by further lectures before the summer festival of the building sciences on the campus meadow in Essen begins at 2 p.m. The festival promises a sociable meeting with music and information.

Special attention pays the lecture by Prof. Yuichi Toda about cyberbullying and self -monitoring, which takes place in the afternoon. The event on Wednesday ends with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Benjamin Pölloth, who deals with energy in chemistry.

A highlight of the week is the workshop for children about the magical kite in Chinese culture on Saturday, June 21, which takes place in the Confucius Institute Metropolis Ruhr in Duisburg. Registration for this event is required.
This series of events not only reflects the UDE commitment to current social issues, but also the interdisciplinary approach that is pursued by the university. Another area that could become more important in the next few years is e-learning.

In the context of further training and e-learning, initiatives such as the didacta education fair and the LearnTec congress are of considerable relevance.
