In the afternoon of October 13, the Mönchengladbach fire brigade was called to an apartment fire in an apartment building on Limitenstrasse at around 3:16 p.m. Residents reported on threatening smoke from an apartment on the 2nd floor. But an attentive neighbor took the initiative and discovered the beginning of the kitchen fire at an early stage. Before the fire brigade arrived, he carried out the first extinguishing measures and thus prevented the spread of the fire.

The fire brigade checked the fire site with a thermal imaging camera and relieved that neither open flames nor embers were present. The head of the operations, fire department, Alexander Keuter, praised the brave neighbors for his quick action, which may have averted greater damage. At the same time, the fire brigade urgently warned: self -protection has a top priority! In the event of a fire, emergency call 112 should always be chosen before taking your own extinguishing attempts.
