Schützenfest in Born series: Majesties wanted for the big day!

Bornreihe, Deutschland - In Born series, preparations for this year's shooting festival are in full swing. On Saturday, May 31st, the Bornreiher shooters will compete in front of the shooting hall at 12 noon. Then they march to the royal family, where the reigning royal couple - King Florian Knoblauch and Queen Waltraud Semken - as well as Viceroy Karsten Becker and vice queen Andrea Kaminski are received. A drink and a coffee table for shooters and guests are also planned.

In the festive atmosphere, honors and greetings from the guests of honor are also intended. Finally, the way back to the shooting hall is started with the majesties around 2:45 p.m. so that the shooting competitions can begin at 4 p.m. First of all, shooting around the golden wing is on the program, followed by the royal shooting, which starts at 5 p.m. to determine the new majesties.

royal proclamation

The crowning glory of the new majesties is expected for around 6 p.m. before the festival ends with a cozy get -together. This event is not only an important part of the local traditions, but also proves to be an opportunity to strengthen the community and keep the customs alive.

But Born series is not the only area in which rifle festivals are celebrated. On May 17, 2025, Hanseatic shooting took place in Hollenstedt after eight years break. Around 100 shooters from Bremen, Hamburg and Lübeck took part. The event, organized by Norbert Bostelmann and Christian Wolf, aimed to strengthen the Hanseatic community and the tradition of shooting sports.

tradition and competition

The competition for the title of the best shooter ended with emotional highlights and the proclamation of the new Hanseatic king, René Kochanski from Hollenstedt, while the musical contribution of the Hollenstedt wind orchestra provided additional entertainment. Such rifle festivals are widespread and build on old traditional celebrations that took place in the Middle Ages when the exercises of the shooters were associated with festivals and parades.

According to a report on the importance of shooting festivals, the determination of the best shooter, also known as the rifle king, is a central element. Depending on the region, the customs vary, with different traditions being cultivated in different parts of Germany, such as in Bavaria, Lower Saxony, the Lower Rhine and Westphalia. Flag strike and other customs, such as bird shooting, are also among the traditional competitions.

The shooting festival in Born series and other similar events not only contribute to cultural identity, but also have an integrative character that combines generations and maintains local friendships. The anticipation of this festival reflects the lively tradition and cohesion in the communities.

For everyone interested, it says: Be there when the shooting festival in Born series opens its gates on May 31 and the shooters at the shooting range demonstrate their skills!
