Kitchen fire in Erkrath: Police investigated by negligent arson

On Saturday, May 24th, 2025, a kitchen fire broke out in an apartment on Kreuzstraße in Erkrath, which alerted the fire brigade around 2:20 p.m. The emergency services met a strong smoke from the third floor of a three -story apartment building. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the apartment was uninhabitably explained.

The police estimate the total damage at around 20,000 euros. Due to the extinguishing work, the Kreuzstraße between Neanderstrasse and Bahnstrasse had to be temporarily closed. Investigations were initiated to the cause of the fire, whereby there is suspicion of negligent arson.
