With 30 investigations in this area - an increase compared to 26 in 2023 and 17 in 2022 - it can be seen that no criminal action remains undetected. The securing of around 8.4 tons of smoking tobacco, 34 million cigarettes, 115 firearms, 1.4 tons of pyrotechnics and 95,257 banned medicines and 76,276 doping agents is particularly alarming

Cigarette crime remains a central offense in which a triple increase in the seizures is recorded compared to the previous year. One focal point of these activities was the uncovering of illegal cigarette production near Bielefeld in September 2024. The fight against drug trafficking also shows: a joint investigation brought a group to fall, which smuggled 50 kg cocaine. Guido Mäke, spokesman for the customs investigation, emphasizes that the consistent persecution of such crimes has led to a prison sentence of 200 years, which underlines the determination of the authorities.
