Tragic accident in ahead: driver dies after medical emergency

On Saturday evening, June 7, 2025, a 58-year-old driver got into his parked car on Kempener Strasse and started the engine. Suddenly the vehicle accelerated at high speed and crashed into a street tree after a few meters. The car stopped between the tree and a fence.

Immediately after the incident, the fire brigade was alerted to free the driver from his vehicle because the doors could no longer be opened. Despite rapid medical care on site, the man tragically died at the scene of the accident. An accident team from the Essen police headquarters has started the investigation. Kempener Straße was closed during the accident.
