Aid organization in Gaza: controversy and concerns about independence!
Gaza, Palästinensische Gebiete - The humanitarian situation in Gaza is catastrophic, and the Gaza Humanitrian Foundation (GHF), supported by the USA and Israel, is now planning to distribute relief goods to the needy population. Despite these efforts, there are massive concerns about the neutrality and the operational structure of the GHF. As Al Jazera reports, the GHF intends to provide help until the end of the week. However, this is done in an environment in which almost all aid deliveries were blocked by the Israeli army in the past two months.
The situation in Gaza has been classified as "Hunger shortage made"; 1.95 million people, that is 93 percent of the population, are affected by acute nutritional uncertainty. UN representatives also warn of the risk of a forced resettlement of the northern population of Gaza, which further reinforces the fragility of the situation.

The GHF is a newly founded organization that consists of private US security forces and former soldiers and was launched in Geneva. Critics accuse the GHF that their operations may lead to the fact that food distribution is restricted and civilians are forced to cover long distances to the distribution centers. Robert Patman, a professor of international relations, emphasizes that no established humanitarian organizations are behind the GHF in view of these controversy.

Jake Wood, the executive director of the GHF, stepped down and called his concerns about the independence of the organization. Many humanitarian actors and organizations fear that the GHF could rather serve the goals of Israel, in particular with regard to a possible depopulation of the north of Gaza by concentrating the distribution of relief goods in the south.
The Humanitarian plans of the GHF, which are to be distributed over four logistics centers, do not come without controversy. Unicef warned in an explanation that civilians, especially old people and sick children, could be at risk on the way to these centers. It is feared that these plans could strengthen the control over vital goods as a means of pressure, which is not in accordance with Israel's obligation to provide impartial help, as from ZDF is.
Despite these challenges, the GHF continues its preparations for auxiliary delivery, while the international community is looking for solutions to improve the catastrophic conditions in Gaza.
