Colorful, loud and solidarity: CSD highlights in NRW 2025

The "Pride Month" has started, and numerous events are also held in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) to demonstrate for the rights of the queer community. Today, on June 6, 2025, is an important day for many queer people, because on Saturday tomorrow several Christopher Street Days (CSD) will take place.

A total of 34 CSD events are planned in NRW until September 20, 2025. The CSD season began on May 17 in Gelsenkirchen and comprises a variety of cities. According to rp-online.de begins the highlight of the CSD celebrations with the CSD in Recklinghausen and Aachen, both of which take place on June 7th.

The CSDs are not only celebrated, but also political demonstrations that are reminiscent of the 1969 Stonewall riots and advocate the rights of LGBTQ+ people. These protests have their origin in the USA and are now established in many countries. As wikipedia , CSDs in Germany are comparable to the gay pride and vary in the form of cultural celebrations up to political manifestations.

This year's CSD events in North Rhine-Westphalia are certainly not only visited by the queer community, but also by the general public. In recent years, CSDs have also become known for their celebrations, including parties and versatile street parties. Discussions about child-friendliness and the representation of fetish elements on the CSDS show that the events offer space for diversity and critical arguments.
