In an extraordinary incident in the night of May 31, 2025, a free -range horse caused excitement on Autobahn 3 towards Cologne. At 01:34 a.m., several road users reported the animal, which was 45,500 on the hard shoulder in the amount of the mileage. Apparently the horse had broken out of a nearby paddock and got on the highway through a defective gate.

The police then had to block the entire highway for about 40 minutes to control the Situation. Fortunately, some attentive road users were able to capture and calm the horse before the officials arrived.
