Police protect football game: chaos between fans largely prevented!

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, the last home game of RW Ahlen came to a massive police operation to keep the fan scenes separately. Already in advance, emergency services of the riot police and the state riding relay ensured security when the followers of the two teams, RW Ahlen and SG Wattenscheid 09, set off in Fan marches to the stadium. Despite the tense ratio, the fan base was predominantly cooperative.

In the stadium, the game was dramatic with about 600 spectators: During the game, the fans unroll large flags to ignite pyrotechnics such as Bengalos and smoking. Especially in the second half, there were other pyro actions in the RW Ahlen block, which were repeated in the guest block after the final whistle. These incidents led to investigations against those responsible. The game ended with a clear 1: 4 victory for SG Wattenscheid 09.
